Our class project today was another exercise in painting fast and loose. The teacher provided us with two options, one of which was a photo of three alstroemeria (“astronaut flowers”).
I went with a Winsor palette because I wanted bright colours that flowed well together when juicy. Even more than last week, this was a “hurry-up-and-wait” project. The initial flower blossoms were done in about 30 seconds, all three colours. Background and details took a bit longer, but I was still trying to keep everything loose and not be quite so deliberate.
